Our Services

Our therapists work together as a team to treat variety of conditions. Although we have ultrasound, laser, TENS and other modalities our main focus is on manual therapy. We firmly believe that hand skills can provide a lot of benefit to patients.

Physiotherapy

Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy is a series of techniques to diagnose and treat the musculoskeletal problems by palpating bony and soft tissues to diagnose the malalignment. Manual therapists are trained to adjust joint positions, release soft tissue, correct body posture and improve body function by returning the body into its best mechanical alignment.

Electrotherapy

Manual therapists are trained to adjust joint positions, release soft tissue, correct body posture and improve body function by returning the body into its best mechanical alignment.

Dry Needling / IMS (IntraMuscular Stimulation)

Dry needling or IMS is the use of needle (acupuncture needles) for the treatment of myofascial trigger points which are the cause of muscle and joint pain. IMS is a very successful treatment, the treatment results appear on the same day.The needles are not usually left in the body for a long time as in Acupuncture treatment. In most IMS techniques the needle is inserted and removed immediately. There is a minimal pain when inserting needles into trigger points, the reflex of the trigger points would be muscle twitches and then the muscle relaxes.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Technology also is known as EPAT and Pressure Wave can successfully treat acute and chronic pain like Knee Pain, Heel Pain, Foot Pain, Ankle Pain, Hamstring Pain, Back Pain, Neck Pain, Shoulder Pain, Elbow Pain, Wrist Pain and Hand Pain. It can also be used for trigger point therapy, sports injuries, scar tissue, stress fractures, enhances bone healing and more.

In Shockwave treatment, high-energy sound waves are introduced into the painful tissue. It is a very advanced and highly effective noninvasive treatment methods cleared by Health Canada and FDA. The treatment works by enhancing the regenerative potential, increasing blood circulation to the affected tissue. Treatment results appear after 1 or 2 treatments and there is no downtime.

A surgeon will usually give you limitations and time frames to bring to your treating physiotherapist as guidelines to work with.

If you have a chronic neurological impairment or injury, we can help with the conditioning of muscle wasting by giving you a home exercise program that is based on improving strength, balance, muscle length and proprioception. We are able to do home visits if you are unable to come in to see us, so you can continue with your rehabilitation in the comfort of your own home.

Chiropractic

Vertebral Subluxation

At the core of the numerous chiropractic miracle stories is a concept known as “vertebral subluxation.” When chiropractors use this phrase, they refer to mechanical compression and irritation to spinal joints and nerves. In Harvey Lillard’s case, the nerves affecting his sense of hearing were compromised, and once D.D. Palmer freed his body of this “neurological insult,” his hearing was restored.

  • For someone else, it could be sciatica
  • Or gastrointestinal complaints
  • Or (fill in the blank)

When you consider how most cells and organs in your body are controlled by nerves traveling through your spinal canal, it’s mind-blowing to consider how vast the side effects can be!

Why Get Chiropractic Adjustments?

Many things can lead to a vertebral subluxation. Some of the more common causes I’ve found are:

  • A vertebra going out of place (“misalignment”) because of a slip or fall (i.e., “macrotrauma”).
  • The entire spine misaligning globally due to poor posture.
  • Joint swelling caused by damage done to the intervertebral joint.
  • An inflammatory response caused by a poor diet, lack of pure water or psychological stress.
  • Osteoporosis or degenerative changes of the spine or intervertebral discs.
  • Trigger points and tight back muscles that pull the vertebrae out of place.
